Dear Baby Blue32,
I had a NDE while waiting for a new liver, too. It was in February of 1994. I went from "I don't feel well" to "Coma" in seven days. I have Wilson's Disease, which caused me to store copper in my liver for 22 years. I remember passing out during the ambulance ride from San Jose to San Francisco. I was just going to get some sleep, but when I woke up, it was two days later and I had a new liver. I experienced none of the romantic NDE things. Just blackness and wanting to die. At the time I thought I couldn't die because of the hopes, prayers and wishes of my friends and family. They were keeping me captive in my body. That was probably a hallucination, like the monkeys I saw coming out of the ceiling, or the demon heads on the shelves that were looking at me. Ammonia builds up in your blood when your liver doesn't function and it causes hallucinations, as I think you probably know. I'm glad you got a new liver and all is well!
Peace,
Greg
